The newly appointed Executive Director (ED)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the African Regional Institute for Geospatial Information Science and Technology (AFRIGIST) paid a courtesy call on the Director of Survey (DoS) on 2nd May, 2023. The ED in the person of Prof. Lazarus Mustapha Ojigi was accompanied by Surv. Abdoulaye Belem (Dep. Exec. Abuja — As Nigeria's 2019 election approaches, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Regional Institute for Geospatial Information Technology during their International Workshop on Digital Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing For Improved Governance (AFRIGIST) has concluded arrangements to deploy scientific technology tool called, "Handset Situation Room," to ensure a free, fair, credible polls at all levels.. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Works, Sen. Kabiru Gaya, has said that innovations by the African Regional Institute for Geospatial Information Science and Technology (AFRIGIST) in the area of digital photogrammetry  and remote sensing can assist in solving insecurity and election issues in the country.
